Welcome
You have arrived at the site of Swanage based artist Helen Jackson BA. I originally trained as a textile designer at Derby and then at Winchester Art College hence the abundance of colours and texture in my work.

Inspiration:
I have always been fascinated by religious art, particularly Ancient Egyptian frescos - but really anything where animals, plants etc have a deeper meaning (and can talk!) - symbolic. I don't think it matters if you understand the original truth but that you sense it and interpret it through your own experience - maybe to try and touch the divine? That is what I am trying to do - to create my own visual mythologies and fairy tales.

Techniques:
Over the years I have been playing with whatever materials come to hand - hence the mixed media description. I have created various bashing and layering techniques to express the magic of age.
